The South Sudan Red Cross with the Support from the German Red Cross in 2022 launched an agriculture project in Yambio, Maridi, Ibba and Ezo Counties which support farmers with the supply of tools and seeds to enhance food production in the state.
The project targets internally displaced people, women groups and youth in the four locations.“I want to thank the people of Germany for supporting the farmers during these trying times. This project has transformed our lives we can pay our children school fees, buy basic items and save some money,” said Baptist. To our friends, the South Sudan Red Cross, your support is always the best in the region. You have helped us during conflicts and peace time, thank you”. Baptist added.
Recently, a team from the German Red Cross led by the Food Security and Livelihood delegate Katie Rodriguez and the South Sudan Red Cross Deputy Secretary General, Christine Abina visited Yambio and Maridi’s farm locations to acquaint themselves with the progress of the project.
They applaud the farmers for the wonderful work. “We are so happy to see how Red Cross is transforming the lives of the farmers in this region, thank you for your dedication and hard work with what we have seen. We promise to keep on supporting you to be the food basket of South Sudan,” said Katie.
